Job Title: Lean Production Manager
Location: Sudbury, Ontario
Salary range: 110k-130k
Overview:
Our client, a growing manufacturer in the industrial vehicle sector, is seeking a Lean Production Manager to join their senior leadership team. This role is critical in driving operational excellence and transforming the organization into a world-class lean manufacturing operation. The successful candidate will play a key role in evolving company culture, optimizing production processes, and improving overall efficiency and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead initiatives to elevate the production facility to high standards of cleanliness, organization, and workflow efficiency.
- Implement and sustain Lean Manufacturing principles, including (but not limited to):
- Takt time management
- 5S methodology
- Kaizen events
- Heijunka (production leveling) systems
- Visual management practices
- Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and performance management for production team members.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Supply Chain and Engineering teams to resolve production challenges.
- Drive cost reduction initiatives through lean improvements and strategic outsourcing.
- Improve production output and efficiency (e.g., units produced per headcount).
- Oversee and enhance product quality within the production process.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and promote a strong safety culture.
- Develop and implement new tools, systems, and processes to support continuous improvement.
- Create and maintain assembly documentation and standardized work procedures.
- Manage the annual production department budget.
Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of experience in the production of heavy industrial equipment.
- Proven experience implementing and/or operating within a Lean Manufacturing environment.
- Post-secondary education in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with line-side logistics, including Kanban and Just-in-Time (JIT) systems.
- Strong understanding of Manufacturing Standard Work and Cell Design (MSWCD).
- Working knowledge of Production Preparation Process (3P).
